Wez is a founding director at Starki, incorporating the practice as a limited company in 2019, following a takeover of MOAT Studio. Wez is a Chartered Member (MCIAT) of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT), and sits on the CIAT Wales Regional Committee.
Graduating with Honours in Architectural Design & Technology from Cardiff’s School of Art & Design in 2012 following a year studying Engineering at Swansea University, he qualified as a Project Manager, achieving a Level 4 APM Qualification in 2021.
In a former career, Wez qualified as an Outstanding teacher of Art & Design, Technology, Engineering, Construction, Technical and Computer Aided Design & Manufacture. He has worked in several secondary schools and sixth form centres, mainly in areas of significant social depravation, to develop and inspire the next generation of designers and manufacturers. It led him to educational leadership, managing multi-disciplinary teams in roles including: Head of Design & Technology at one of the UK’s top performing schools; and Head of the Faculty of Design, Engineering & Construction at a designated centre for academic development. While leading staff and students he completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Education.
Wez is passionate about building solid and long-lasting relationships with Starki’s clients through professional and carefully considered practice with a focus on achieving consistent client satisfaction through a highly personalised service.
As the Principal Director, Wez holds a strong organisational and strategic role which demands continual development in order to respond to market changes and ever-inspiring client visions. He is involved in every aspect of the practice’s work, monitoring and observing practice to ensure Starki upholds its professional standards and exceeds our clients’ expectations.
