We offer flexible/ hybrid working and, alongside statutory holidays, an extra 3 days over Christmas period when our studios are closed. On top of this, every staff member has an extra day off for their birthday.

Apprentice Administration Assistant

Starki Limited is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Apprentice Administration Assistant to join our dynamic team. This role is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a passion for the architectural industry and a desire to develop their administrative and organisational skills.

As an Apprentice Administration Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the practice, including media and public relations, receptionist duties, and business administration.

Our education partners will visit the studio weekly for 121 sessions to help you develop your skills, leading to a qualification in Business Administration.

 

Responsibilities:

Media and Public Relations:

  • Assist in managing Starki’s social media accounts, including content creation and scheduling posts.
  • Monitor social media channels, respond to comments, messages, and engage with the audience.
  • Collaborate with marketing professionals to develop and implement social media campaigns.
  • Support the creation of engaging content, such as articles, blog posts, and press releases.
  • Help maintain the architecture practice’s online presence and reputation.

Receptionist Duties:

  • Greet and welcome clients, suppliers, and visitors with a professional and friendly manner.
  • Answer incoming calls, directing them to the appropriate team member or taking messages accurately.
  • Manage the studio email inbox and distribute messages to the relevant team members promptly.
  • Handle incoming and outgoing mail and packages.

Business Administration:

  • Assist in responding to new leads and enquiries through email, phone, or other communication channels.
  • Maintain an organised database of leads, ensuring all relevant information is up-to-date.
  • Follow up on live leads, ensuring prospective clients have all of the information they need.
  • Coordinate with senior staff to schedule meetings or consultations with potential clients.

General Administrative Support:

  • Provide administrative assistance to various functions, including HR, finance, and project management.
  • Help with filing, scanning, photocopying, and other office-related tasks.
  • Assist in organising events, workshops, and presentations as required.

Requirements:

  • Entry requirements to the relevant Business Administration Apprenticeship, delivered by our learning partners.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with various social media platforms and basic knowledge of social media management tools.
  • Service-oriented with a professional and courteous attitude towards clients, colleagues, and partners.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Previous experience in a similar role or in the architecture/construction industry is a plus but not essential.
  • A positive and proactive attitude, willing to learn and contribute to the team’s success.
  • The ability to speak Welsh is desirable, but not essential.

Associate

Our Swansea studio is currently seeking a qualified and experienced individual to join our team as an Associate to join our dynamic team.

If you are a professionally qualified Architect or Technologist with at least 3-5 years post-professional qualification with relevant experience, we invite you to apply for this exciting opportunity.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage complex architectural projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to quality standards, budgets, and timelines.
  • Provide technical expertise, guidance, and mentorship to junior architects and project teams.
  • Collaborate with clients, consultants, and stakeholders to develop and refine project briefs, designs, and specifications.
  • Conduct site visits, inspections, and coordinate with contractors and construction teams to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends, regulations, and best practices, and integrate them into project designs and strategies.

Requirements:

  • Professional qualification as an Architectural Technologist.
  • At least 3-5 years of post-professional qualification with relevant experience.
  • Possession of FRIBA, ARIBA, FCIAT or MCIAT, or ability to work towards Chartered Status.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of architectural design principles, construction techniques, and building regulations.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with clients, team members, and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in architectural software and tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite.

Role Description:

As an Architectural Technologist or Architectural Assistant at Starki, you will play a crucial role in our design process. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with our team through regular online team sessions and participate in in-person meetings in Swansea. We are looking for a self-motivated individual who can quickly absorb project information and carry out architectural design work accurately, adhering to current local and national policies and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with architects, technologists, engineers, and other professionals to prepare architectural plans, elevations, and details.
  • Assist in developing architectural designs that align with project requirements and objectives.
  • Ensure that designs meet regulatory standards and comply with local and national building codes.
  • Utilise software tools such as AutoCAD, Sketchup, Photoshop, Recap, and
  • Revit to create and modify architectural drawings and visualisations.
  • Maintain effective communication and collaboration within the team to ensure project success.
  • Contribute to the creation of presentations, reports, and design documentation.

Requirements:

  • A strong understanding of architectural design principles and the ability to translate them into practical solutions.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Sketchup, and Photoshop.
  • Knowledge and experience with Recap and Revit software.
  • Familiarity with Autodesk’s AEC Collection would be advantageous.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work accurately within project constraints.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • A proactive and self-motivated approach, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Means of travel between home, meetings, and site visits via your own form of transport.
  • A relevant Certificate, Diploma, Degree or equivalent qualification
  • At least one year of demonstrable professional experience
